LUNG - Secondary leiomyosarcoma

Description
This consists of a slice through the uninflated lower lobe of the left lung, and shows in the lower pole a circumscribed pale tumour, with a whorled pattern showing on the cut surface. There was no clear relationship to the major bronchus.
History
At the age of 49, this woman under went a hysterectomy and a leiomyosarcoma was identified in the uterus. Eight years later the chest X-ray showed the mass described above and the lobe was removed; the histology of the lesion is that of a leiomyosarcoma.
